Location

This iconic Resort is situated between the renowned Great Barrier Reef and the Daintree Rainforest in Tropical North Queensland.  The resort comprises 295 guest rooms, suites and boutique self contained villas.

 

Department

We’re seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Conference Services with strong leadership skills, exceptional communications skills and impeccable personal presentation.  As the Director of Conference Services you will lead a team in the planning and coordination of all the conventions and catered events at the Resort. You will be responsible for total events revenue through developing existing customer relationships as well as sourcing new business opportunities. 

 

 

 


Responsibilities include and are not limited to:

Prepare and achieve outlooks, budgets and forecasts 

Analyse the activities of competitor hotels, including their customer base, with the aim of developing and securing new business

Managing the team, ensuring they are working towards achieving the hotels revenue budget for the existing and future years

Participation in developing and reviewing catering rate structures, based on market feedback and market conditions

Liaise closely with the Director of Operations, and F&B Manager to discuss strategies and communicating clearly with the team

Monitor group-billing accounts for accuracy.

 

The successful candidate will have:

High school diploma or GED; 4 years experience in the event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.

      OR

2-year degree from an accredited university in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Hospitality, Business Administration, or related major; 2 years experience in the event management, food and beverage, sales and marketing, or related professional area.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Exceptional time management, managerial and organisational skills

Armed with smart solutions and a can-do attitude

Energised in a fast paced environment

Proven ability to develop strong working relationships both internally and external to the organisation

Substantial experience in a similar capacity in a 5 star Hotel

Preferred applicants will have valid working rights to work in Australia.  Sponsorship will not be available for this position.
