The Westin Melbourne hotel is an oasis in the heart of the city’s bustling Central Business District.  With a commanding location on Collins Street, arguably Australia’s premier street, The Westin Melbourne preserves wellness in travel with a number of signature brand offerings including our Westin Heavenly® Beds, Gear Lending by New Balance®, and WestinWORKOUT® Fitness Studio.


Department:

Our 10 sophisticated and versatile function rooms filled with natural light, city views and contemporary artwork combine with our specially designed menus to create memorable events, conferences, seminars or banquets.

Job Description:

  • Co-ordination of all aspects of the departments operation to ensure that the services of the Department are delivered to guests or internal customers with the aim of exceeding guest expectations and in accordance with Westin’s standards and procedures.

  • Responsible for maintaining a strong client relationship and ensuring that all convention specifications are communicated to and executed by all hotel operating departments making for a successful meeting experience for the meeting planner and attendees.  

  • Responsible for the appropriate and timely set up of all functions and meetings while maintaining standards of food, beverage and meeting specifications.  

  • Responsible for the development and implementation of a training plan to ensure a high quality presentation and level of customer service from the departments’ associates.

  • Manage inventory, control and breakage/loss reduction of china, glass and silver as it relates to function services and banquet services.

  • Give daily support and guidance to fellow banquet associates as well as monitor job performance to ensure a successful meeting/banquet experience by our guests.

  • Responsible for monthly scheduling and payroll for the Banquet Department.

  • Handle guest queries and complaints in a professional manner.

  • Conduct development and performance reviews, identifying key associates for further development and structured career pathing.

  • Oversee the selection and appointment of new associates within the department.

  • Conduct regular departmental meetings to keep all associates informed and actively promote a work environment, which cares for guests and associates alike.

  • Will be required to work closely with other departments within the Food & Beverage 

Requirements:

  • Ideally you will have had previous leadership experience in a similar position and have a comprehensive understanding of all Banquet operations

  • Valid Victorian Responsible Service of Alcohol and Food Safety and Hygiene certificates.

  • The successful candidate will possess strong leadership, management and communication (verbal and written) skills.

  • Strong attention to detail and customer focus.

  • Must have the flexibility to work on a roster including public holidays and weekends.
