JOB SUMMARY

 

Responsible for pro-actively soliciting and executing the related tasks of Groups & Events Sales Division of the Sales Department, handling the weddings & social event business opportunities. Actively upsells each business opportunity to maximize revenue opportunity. Achieves personal and team related revenue goals. Partners with operation departments in providing a customer experience that exceeds the customer’s expectations. Coordinates and communicates event details both verbally and in writing to the customer and property operations pre/post event. Responsible for driving customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience. Provides service to our customers in order to grow the account on behalf of Marriott International, across the enterprise.

 

CANDIDATE PROFILE 

 

Education and Experience

  • 2-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; at least 1 year experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.

    OR

  • 4-year bachelor's degree  in Business Administration, Marketing, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major; 1 year experience in the sales and marketing or related professional area.

 

REQUIRED:

Excellent command of Turkish & English

 

Preferred:

4-year college degree,

Previous experience in proactive lead generation in hospitality and sales discipline,

Knowledge of property-specific business segments (e.g. Group, catering, transient),

Knowledge the hospitality industry.

 

CORE WORK ACTIVITIES

 

Building Successful Relationships that Generate Sales Opportunities

  • Works collaboratively with off-property sales channels to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.

  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings. Activities include sales calls, entertainment, fairs, trade shows, etc. Integrates current trends in the weddings & social events industry.

  • Develops relationships within community to strengthen and expand customer base for sales opportunities.

  • Manages and develops relationships with key internal and external stakeholders.

  • Providing service to customers in order to exceeds the customer’s expectations.

     

     

     

     

     

    Executing Sales Activities

  • Participates in sales calls where relevant with proactive sales team members to acquire new business and/or close on business.

  • Executes and supports the operational aspects of business booked (e.g., generating proposal, writing contract, customer correspondence).

  • Administrative follow up, using sales resources , negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business, 

  • Conducts site inspections, provides contracts for converted business.

  • Targets wedding and social catering accounts, markets, or segments with heavy emphasis on proactive solicitation and account saturation.

     

    Using Knowledge of Market Trends and Target Customer Information to Maximize Revenue

  • Identifies new business to achieve personal and location revenue goals.

  • Understands the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand etc. and knows how to sell against them.

  • Closes the best opportunities for the location based on market conditions and location needs.

  • Gains understanding the property and primary target customer and service expectations; serves the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solutions both prior to, and during the event.

 

Providing Exceptional Customer Service

  • Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their program/event.

  • Partners with Operation departments in providing a customer experience that exceeds the customer’s expectations.

  • Empowers employees to provide excellent customer service.

  • Sets a positive example for guest relations.

  • Coordinates and communicates event details both verbally and in writing to the customer and property operations.

  • Makes presence known to customer at all times during this process.

  • Follows up with customer pre/post-event.

  • Acts as liaison between field hotel service departments and customer throughout the event process (pre-event, event, post-event).

  • Responds to and handles guest problems and complaints.

  • Ensures that events progress seamlessly by following established procedures, collaborating with other employees, and ensuring accuracy.

  • Adheres to all standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Ensures billing accuracy and conducts bill reviews with the clients prior to processing the final bill.

  • Uses his/her judgment to integrate current trends in event management and event design.

  • Solicits feedback from the property departments to identify areas for improvement to enhance the Event Planner’s experience.

  • Builds and strengthens relationships with existing and new customers to enable future bookings.

Welcome and acknowledge all guests according to company standards; anticipate and address guests' service needs; thank guests with genuine appreciation. Speak with others using clear and professional language; prepare and review written documents accurately and completely; answer telephones using appropriate etiquette. Develop and maintain positive working relationships with others; support team to reach common goals; listen and respond appropriately to the concerns of other employees. Monitor the performance of others to ensure adherence to quality expectations and standards. Read and visually verify information in a variety of formats. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.
