Job Overview    


To perform all duties within the scope of all plumbing and air-con system in the hotel, as assigned by his superior in accordance with the departmental standards. Works closely with the Shift Duty Engineer to carry out other responsibilities assigned to him in accordance with established maintenance program and operation schedule to perform a smooth operation of the Engineering Department. Carries out the actual operation of the hotel plumbing and mechanical equipment during his duty shift in order to achieve the maximum standard in delivering various engineering services required by the hotel operations. Properly monitors and records all necessary data of the Engineering equipment for operation and maintenance program.





  1. Ensures day-to-day operational efficiency of the section. 
  2. Inspects, cleans, and maintains all plumbing and air-con systems.
  3. Replaces defective plumbing fixtures immediately. 
  4. Inspects, cleans, maintains and repairs, if necessary, all fire fighting and safety equipment.
  5. Inspects, cleans, maintains and repairs all electrical switchgear and distribution networks and systems.
  6. Maintains and repairs all plumbing fixtures and defective Fan Coil Units.
  7. Maintains emergency power supply, uninterruptible power supply systems, switchgears, motors, starters and cables.
  8. Ensures readiness at all times of fire fighting and safety equipment and provides guidance to other departments.
  9. Carries out immediate repair of equipment, including standby, and ensures readiness when needed.
  10. Ensures immediate provision of services to guests and other operating departments.
  11. Attends immediately to and ensures completion of emergency repairs.
  12. Initiates attendance to emergency calls immediately, in all phases of engineering works.
  13. Coordinates and cooperates with other engineering staff where necessary.
  14. Observes meticulously the "No Smoking" policy and all regulations regarding "Safety at Work" at all times.
  15. Strictly observes Energy Conservation procedures at all times.
  16. Keeps updates of daily events especially on Banquets and Guestroom status, giving emphasis to VIP's.
  17. Ensures coordination with other operating departments in the implementation of repair and maintenance schedule.
  18. Performs daily rounds of inspection in the entire building, giving particular attention to defective or deficient life safety features and observes closely the condition of all operating facilities and equipment.
  19. Ensures that all standby units are readily available for operation.
  20. Reports immediately to his superior all defects and deficiencies noticed during inspection and commences the immediate rectification without delay.
  21. Ensures that there is no backlog in repair and maintenance activities scheduled within the day.
  22. Controls effective daily consumption and materials utilization.
  23. Reports the completion of all projects and work assignments.
  24. Keeps himself updated on all projects or activity status within the department.
  25. Familiarizes with all rules and regulations regarding safety at work and observes these     meticulously at all times.
  26. Maintains logbook of activities with accurate time and details.
  27. Initiates attendance to emergency calls immediately, in all phases of engineering works.
  28. Coordinates and cooperates with other Engineering staff where necessary.
  29. Ensures neatness in appearance, proper personal hygiene, wearing of complete prescribed uniform and polished black shoes in the workplace at all times.
  30. Observes punctuality in the workplace.
  31. Emphasizes on good personal behavior as per guidelines laid down in the Employee Handbook and promotes teamwork always.
  32. Follows strictly all policies and procedures of the hotel and the Engineering Department.
  33. Attends Engineering meetings and other hotel requirements regularly. 
  34. Acts as member of a fire fighting team in case of fire or other emergencies.
  35. Responsible for keeping a close watch on spare parts/supplies required and advises Maintenance Engineer beforehand to reorder in order to have at any time the expected replacement parts/supplies at hand.
  36. Ensures that all assigned works are completed according to schedule and priority.
  37. Ensures proper utilization of equipment and provides guidance to other departments.
  38. Ensures immediate provision of services to guests and other operating departments.
  39. Responds and makes himself available for any call by his superiors during emergencies, troubles or calamities. Stays in the hotel as standby force to aid in emergencies.
  40. Follows all other instructions, rules and regulation that may be issued.
  41. Performs any other work and related functions as may be assigned by his superior to accomplish a smooth operation and maintenance of the hotel.
  42. Performs other duties as assigned to meet the business need


1. Competencies (skills & knowledge required for the job: has good knowledge in operation, repair and maintenance of plumbing, air-conditioning and steam systems; Knowledge in computer operation and building management system is desirable; cooperative, can harmoniously work with peers


2. Experience: at least 3 years’ experience in repair and maintenance of plumbing and air-conditioning equipment particularly in a De Luxe hotel


3. Language: fluent in oral and written English


4. Education: at least 2nd Year in Engineering course or graduate of equivalent vocational course


5. Professional Certification/License:         N/A
