Location:
Sheraton Melbourne Hotel is located on Little Collins Street between Spring Street and Exhibition Street, also referred to as the "Paris End" owing to its Art Nouveau architecture, leafy surrounds and proximity to the city's most chic dining and shopping experiences. The hotel is located within the 31 storey "wavilinear" building which features 174 deluxe guest rooms and luxury suites. Hotel facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, a spa with 5 dedicated treatment rooms, one all day dining restaurant, lobby lounge bar and a rooftop terrace bar. The hotel also features 669 square meters of meetings and banquet space over 6 flexible rooms.

JOB SCOPE                                                                                                                     
 
To promote and maximise revenue for the 3 Hotels – Sheraton Melbourne, The Westin Melbourne and Four Points Docklands. Seek new sales opportunities from corporate accounts, Travel Management Companies (TMC’s) and MICE clients in the greater Melbourne market. Provide the direct communication link and prompt response time between clients and internal departments at the hotel.
 
The Sales Manager will be required to conduct their duties in a courteous, safe and efficient manner, in accordance with the hotel’s policies and procedures, ensuring that a high level of service is maintained.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES                                                                                                 
 
  • Seek and develop new business opportunities, through external sales calls, proposals, telesales, specific site inspections and other appropriate methods.
  • Achieve monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc sales and activity related goals.
  • 20% of role to be focused on developing ‘new’ business for the hotel whilst remaining 80% is focused on managing existing accounts via strategic account planning including rotational sales calls, entertainment and phone activity.
  • Deliver presentations to clients.
  • Prepare and submit all required reports.
  • Participate in conference call meetings as required.
  • Conduct familiarisations, site inspection and dinners as required.
  • Represent the Hotel at trade shows, interstate sales call weeks, functions and events as required.
  • Undertake specific projects as directed by Director of Sales and Marketing and General Manager.
  • Actively participate in the Daily Business Review, Weekly Sales Meeting, and Group pace meeting and any other related meetings.
  • Maximise utilization of the Marriott Global Sales Offices in Sydney and Melbourne.
  • Participate in training activities as required.
  • Deliver enthusiastic, positive, helpful and respectful client communication, ensuring precise and effective information transfer.
  • Address client queries within 24 hours of initial contact.
  • Ensure recovery calls are dealt with in an appropriate manner.
  • Identify sales leads from daily newspapers, trade magazines and network at events.
  • Report all competitor activity, industry intelligence and market trends that may impact on the Hotel are reported and handled in the appropriate manner.
  • Effectively implement and support all Marriott related programs.
General Requirements

  • Maintain company confidentiality, ensuring that business dealings within the organization are not discussed with outside parties.
  • Review and update the department’s policies, standards and guidelines as required.
  • Be well versed and knowledgeable of the 3 hotels Fire and Evacuation procedures as well as health and safety requirements in the Workplace.  Ensure associates are aware of their duty of care as determined by legislation and that they maintain complete familiarity.
  • Analyse and respond to guest feedback, guest satisfaction and employee satisfaction information; and give a positive commitment to continuous improvement of product and performance in line with Brand Standards.
  • Comply with Marriott’s Worldwide Code of Business Conduct and Ethics and the Policy against Insider training at all times.
  • To work as and where directed by Management plus follow all reasonable requests.
