Sheraton Melbourne Hotel is located on Little Collins Street between Spring Street and Exhibition Street, also referred to as the "Paris End" owing to its Art Nouveau architecture, leafy surrounds and proximity to the city's most chic dining and shopping experiences. The hotel is located within the 31 storey "wavilinear" building which features 174 deluxe guest rooms and luxury suites. Hotel facilities include an indoor heated swimming pool, fitness center, a spa with 5 dedicated treatment rooms, one all day dining restaurant, lobby lounge bar and a rooftop terrace bar. The hotel also features 669 square meters of meetings and banquet space over 6 flexible rooms.

The Human Resources department is integral to creating and maintaining a high performance culture for Associates at all levels within the Hotel.



Job Description:

Reporting directly to the Director of Human Resources, we are looking for an experienced and dynamic Human Resources Officer to provide generalist HR advice and support to the organization. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensuring the department's requirements for administrative support are undertaken efficiently and professionally

  • Coordinate HR processes for the whole employee life cycle including recruitment, onboarding and separation

  • Conduct orientation and various classroom training sessions

  • Actively promote work health and safety and chair OH&S meetings

  • Manage all workover administration and follow up

  • Have the ability to understand and interpret the relevant award and associated legislation

  • Provide timely follow up for any pay related queries

  • Coordinate and champion a variety of associate focused initiatives and events throughout the year

  • Support the Director of Human Resources in reporting requirements, employee relations and other project work.

  • Work on HR related projects as directed by the Director of Human Resources

  • Assist the kitchen to ensure the cleanliness of the associate team room to ensure hygiene standards are met.

Requirements:


  • The right candidate will hold a tertiary degree in Human Resources (or related), and have 1-2 or more years' previous work experience in a generalist HR role in a fast paced environment.

  • This role has a strong administrative and reporting component and as such it is essential that you are highly organised, demonstrate strong attention to detail and have the ability to manage competing priorities.

  • You must be proficient in using various HR systems. The year ahead will have integration projects and you will need to be proactive to stay ahead of the changes to ensure implementation deadlines are met.

  • This role requires a hands on approach and natural aptitude to build strong relationships with all levels of associates to ensure HR goals are achieved.

  • You must demonstrate a confident and positive demeanor, the ability to take initiative and to work autonomously.
