Conditions
 
Valid working permit for Belgium is mandatory.
Minimum of 24 months of relevant sales experience, preferably in the hospitality sector or government related activities.
The candidate should speak fluent English. Any other European language is a plus.
Relevant university or college qualification or degree.
 
Job Summary
 
The Market Account Manager Government Sales is responsible for all Sales activities focusing on Government and Diplomatic sales within the Marriott Brussels cluster. This position has overall responsibility for revenue generation in transient and group segments related to Government as well as catering revenue from the Government and Diplomatic segments. By Government and Diplomatic business, we understand all opportunities generated by Government institutions and associated bodies including but not limited to National Governments including local Embassies and Representations and where appropriate direct contacts with National Governments, European Institutions including the European Commission and Parliament, NATO and affiliated organizations and all agencies involved in reserving on behalf of government institutions in all business segments. The Market Account Manager Government Sales is responsible for maintaining contacts with existing clients by developing relationships whilst also being tasked to actively seek new business opportunities by diversifying contacts.  This activity is heavily relationship focused and may involve attending evening events on a regular basis and a degree of international travel. The successful candidate will implement the brands’ service strategies and applicable brand initiatives in all aspects of the sales process and drive customer loyalty by delivering service excellence throughout each customer experience.
 
Job specific tasks
 
Working within the Market Sales Team for 4 hotels: Renaissance Brussels, Marriott Brussels Grand Place, Courtyard by Marriott Brussels and Marriott Executive Apartments, the Market Account Manager Government Sales has overall responsibility for achieving and exceeding the hotels Government related revenue goals.  Overall, the position is accountable for the following:
 
  • Manage the sales efforts for the hotels related to Government, through EU Institutions and Embassies
  • Work with the management team, taking ownership to create and implement a Government Sales plan addressing revenue, customers and market development. 
  • Work collaboratively with Market Sales, as well as other hotel departments to ensure sales efforts are coordinated, complementary and not duplicative.
  • Manage existing contacts to maximize potential and encourage repeat business through strong relationships and account management.
  • Maintain a calendar of events and proactively identify and solicit business associated with government events including EU Summits, NATO activities and delegations visiting the city.
  • Understand the overall market - competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, Government and political trends and know how to maximize sales opportunities based on this.
  • Close the best opportunities for the hotels based on market conditions and hotel needs, ensuring profitable sales.
  • Use negotiating skills and creative selling abilities to close on business and negotiate contracts including update and renewal of all Government tenders and contracts.
  • Ensure smooth handling of the reservation process to ensure customer satisfaction implementing process improvements and best practices wherever possible and execute exemplary customer service to drive loyalty.
  • Gain understanding of the hotel’s primary target customer and service expectations; serve the customer by understanding their business, business issues and concerns, to offer better business solution both prior to, and during the program/event.
  • Develop a close working relationship with operations to ensure execution of strategies at the hotel level executing  Marriott’s Customer Service Standards and hotel’s Brand Standards.
  • Serve the customer by understanding their needs and recommending the appropriate features and services that best meet their needs and exceed their expectations, while building a relationship and loyalty to Marriott International.
  • Perform other duties, as assigned, to meet business needs within the Market Sales team including cluster blitz and sales calling activities.
  • Represent the Marriott Brussels Cluster at all relevant Government events including cocktails and networking activities to create additional  contacts and opportunities.
  • Monitor the effective resolution of guest issues that arise as a result of the sales process by creating mechanisms to channel issues to property leadership and/or other appropriate stakeholders.   
  • Ensure successful performance by increasing revenues, controlling expenses and providing a return on investment for the owner and Marriott International.
