The Westin Melbourne is seeking an experienced Assistant Financial Controller to join our Finance team.  Reporting directly to the Complex Director of Finance you will manage the daily departmental accounting functions as well as assisting in managing the hotel’s assets, liabilities, income and expenditure. For you to be successful in this role you must be able to demonstrate the following:

Job Description:

  • Manage the daily accounting functions ( AP, AR, Income audit, Cashiering)
  • Prepare and process month end reporting including Balance Sheet, P&L  Reconciliations according to the reporting schedules
  • Experience in GST, Payroll tax and FBT are essential
  • Manage finance team and provide leadership to them.
  • Ensure adherence to Starwood’s Finance Policies. 
  • Work closely with the department heads


  • Solid Accounting experience ideally within a hotel environment
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel, SAP and Opera
  • Exceptional time management and communication skills
  • Great interpersonal, leadership and problem solving skills essential
  • Accuracy and attention to detail are paramount
  • Ability to flex with the work demands
  • Support the long-term budgetary planning and cost management in alignment with the hotels strategic/business plan, especially to improve the overall performance
  • Be able to adapt to a continually evolving environment; demonstrating both the autonomy and collaboration skills needed to advance the organisation's purpose and the leadership to inspire confidence of all internal and external stakeholders
