Job Summary

The Global Account Executive is responsible for building and maintaining long-term, value based, business to business relationships between Marriott International and a portfolio of high value accounts. These accounts are designated as Canadian headquartered multi-national accounts (corporations and intermediary partners) and Canadian divisions of US and International multi-national corporations and intermediary partners. 

This position will be located in Toronto, Montreal, Calgary or Vancouver Canada or a surrounding area.

Canadian Headquartered Accounts/Intermediaries: 
The GAE is positioned as the accounts’ Global Team Leader, leading a North America based account team in developing and implementing key strategies that optimize business development opportunities within each account. The GAE is responsible for providing total account management for these accounts in an effort to increase Marriott’s preference, loyalty and profitable share. As total account manager, this individual will develop strategic relationships with the key buyers in primary buying locations with the purpose of mapping all revenue streams to grow share and drive superior business results. 

Canada Team Lead on US and International Multi-National Accounts/Intermediaries:
The GAE is responsible for assisting the International GSO Global Account Team Leader in creating key strategies regarding the Canadian subsidiary and leading a Canadian based account team in implementing those strategies that optimize business development opportunities from the Canadian divisions and within Canada.  

The GAE is the segment lead for Canadian hotels across various segments including pharma, association, airline, group intermediary based on their defined account portfolio.

By applying the principles of strategic account management and team-based selling, this position provides overall leadership and direction in the development of business-to-business strategies to build long-term, value-based relationships between Marriott and their portfolio of accounts. As total account manager, this individual will develop strategic relationships with the key buyers in primary buying locations with the purpose of mapping all revenue streams to grow share and drive superior business results as well as uncovering new business. 

Specific areas of responsibility include pulling through, managing and communicating overall account strategies in alignment with overall segment priorities, mapping country buyers to accounts, defending and growing market share and revenue targets for assigned accounts, owning the return on invested capital (ROIC) for their accounts and liaising with relevant cross-discipline resources (GAE, market, property) to ensure effective pull-through of account strategies to achieve property-level results.

CANDIDATE PROFILE
    
Education and Experience Preferred

4-year degree from an accredited university in College degree and related experience generally required.
English language written and spoken; French language a plus

    
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
    

Total Account Management: 

Canadian Headquartered Multi-National Accounts
Proactive total account management.  Maintains telephonic and appropriate in person relationships with each accounts key buyers that impact the accounts BT, Extended Stay and Group buying process.
Manage relationships with the largest buyers in primary buying locations to optimize account reach and share focusing on delivering customer value and growing account share while promoting the concepts of strategic account management and team-based sales.  
Ensure the development of account plans that focus on improving market share, leveraging efficiencies, generating revenue. 
Retain, expand and grow account revenue through account growth and implementation of strategic initiatives. 
Act as the customer’s advocate through understanding account customer needs and opportunities.  Monitor current and future customer needs, goals and attitudes including competitor activity to guide targeted solution development; remove barriers to business solution development; build a customer-focused team.
Liaise with relevant cross-discipline groups to resolve customer issues and ensure profitability of the account.
Manage the business travel RFP process for assigned accounts including leveraging the MBTC partnership to execute the RFP and function as the BTAM for the assigned accounts. 
Coordinate, manage and close the largest group transactions on assigned accounts accordingly directly or in partnership with the NGS partner on defined accounts and/or with the US AE, Sales Office, and/or hotels 
Identify, manage and close on extended stay opportunities and working with sales coordinator and/or MBTC partner on pull though actions. 
Lead the sales efforts for new and existing revenue streams within assigned accounts.
Attend and participate in all relevant customer events and trade shows.   
Ongoing quality control of account data and management reporting.

Canadian Divisions of International GSO Deployed Accounts

Proactive total account management.  Maintains telephonic and appropriate in person relationships with each accounts key buyers that impact the accounts BT, Extended Stay and Group buying process.
Pull through the overall account strategy in alignment with segment strategic goals as determined by the GAE being accountable for achieving desired business results as it pertains to Canada.
Pull-through account strategies and selling solutions to establish integrated sales strategies that maximize customer relationships within the region and ensure pull-through of strategies at the hotel level. 
Accordingly, partner with the GAE’s , BTAM’s and PAS team to pull through negotiations of preferred hotel agreements with customers and hotels in country.
Coordinate, manage and close the largest group transactions on assigned accounts accordingly directly or in partnership with the NGS partner on defined accounts and/or with the US AE, Sales Office, and/or hotels 
Manage relationships with the largest buyers in primary buying locations to optimize account reach and share focusing on delivering customer value and growing account share while promoting the concepts of strategic account management and team-based sales.  
Ensure the development of account plans that focus on improving market share, leveraging efficiencies, generating revenue. 
Support efforts to educate and communicate total account management and team-based sales principles to Canadian property and sales office representatives.   
Lead the sales efforts for new and existing revenue streams within assigned accounts.
Attend and participate in all relevant customer events and trade shows.   
Ongoing quality control of account data and management reporting.

Organizational Excellence 
Champion business transformation and change efforts in support of Sales and Marketing strategies.

Maintain operational excellence by directing productive, streamlined administrative functions.

Ensure that the latest sales tools, including SFAWeb, MARRFP, MRDW and other value-added products & services, are being leveraged effectively to maximize productivity and build sustainable competitive advantage.

Operational Excellence
Achieve account revenue and sales goals as defined by Sales leadership. 
Ensure the pull through and development of account plans that focus on improving market share, leveraging efficiencies, and generating revenue.    
Anticipate and identify business opportunities and challenges, coordinating with accounts GAE and Global Account Director, GSO Canada to respond with a profitable strategy that aligns with overall business direction.  
Increase penetration of high potential accounts in order to optimize demand across all brands and satisfy important property needs.
Leverage all available sales channels, i.e., marriott.com, group and transient, intermediaries, field sales, etc.. in an effort to optimize sales revenues.
