This position will report to the Senior Manager Human Resources based at the Europe Office Eschborn and is a member of the HR Services team. The main responsibilities include providing HR support to the associates and leaders located in the offices through activities such as talent acquisition, total compensation management, training and development, associate relations and change management. The focus of this role is delivering HR Services that meet or exceed the needs of both the designated discipline business partners and HR disciplines to enable business success, ensuring compliance with legislation and Marriott International operating procedures. This is achieved by partnering with business leaders, other HR Services team members, the Centres of Expertise and Area HR Directors. Duties may also include undertaking work for the Europe Division (and all related entities).
The Human Resources Manager provides support / is responsible for
  • Location requirements: The Human Resources Manager is to be located at the Europe Office Eschborn
  • Language Requirements: High proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required.
  • Travel Requirements: There is no regular business travel required.
Human Resources Leadership

HR support - Europe Division

  • Involvement in ad-hoc project work: HR Systems/Process; Compensation & Benefits; Employment Law; Talent Acquisition & Career Development

Recruitment and Selection 

  • Leads recruitment activities at the Europe Office Eschborn
  • Establishes and maintains contact with external recruitment sources and performs quality control on vendor partner´s performance regarding applicant sourcing and selection.
  • Ensures effective advertisement efforts are being utilized for open positions in appropriate venues to attract a diverse candidate pool.
  • Ensures interview and selection process is in compliance with Marriott Standard Operating Procedures and local legislation.
  • Ensures that all offer letters issued by the Eschborn Office (management and non-management) adhere to Marriott and Europe standards.
  • Provides subject matter expertise to discipline leaders regarding Marriott´s selection process
  • Actively seeks and generates talent pools for key business areas to proactively generate talent succession within the business.

Total Compensation

  • Ensures new hires and eligible associates enroll in benefit plans and communicate changes to the benefit plans in a timely manner.
  • Supports the associate benefit eligibility review process and changes associates status as necessary; communicates change in status to affected associates.
  • Supports the local management team by providing information and answer routine questions on the associate benefit scheme
  • Ensures that all departments have the available resources on hand to administer associate benefits e.g., Access to Marriott Global Source, Associate handbook & Benefits guides.
  • Provides assistance with the performance review process
  • Ensures that all compensation elements are tracked for all associates and that this database is managed effectively.

Training and Development

  • Ensures coordination and facilitation of new hire office orientation program, to generate a positive first impression for associates and ensures attendance by all new hires and participation of the leadership team.
  • Collaborates with management team to ensure departmental orientation processes are in place and associates receive the appropriate new hire training to successfully perform their job.
  • Tracks and publishes the transfers and promotions of associates.
  • Facilitates and/or ensures compliance training is conducted in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures (e.g., Health & Safety and any other applicable statutory training).
  • Partners with discipline leaders to understand and support the career development of associates.

Associate Relations

  • Communicates Company rules and regulations
  • Assists in maintaining effective associate communication channels in the office, e.g. develops daily communications and assists with regularly scheduled discipline-wide meetings)
  • Reviews progressive discipline documentation for accuracy and consistency, checks for supportive documentation and is accountable for determining appropriate action
  • Utilizes an “open door” policy to acknowledge associate problems or concerns in a timely manner
  • Ensures associate issues are referred to the discipline leader for resolution and escalated to the Senior Manager Human Resources
  • Conducts exit interviews on all voluntary separations, tracks results and shares information with Senior Manager Human Resources
  • Administers recognition programs for non-management and management associates
  • Communicates performance expectations in accordance with job descriptions for each position


Facility Management

  • Supports Senior Manager Human Resources in communicating all safety and security policies as well as office rules and regulations
  • Ensures representation of Human Resources at the Health & Safety Committee, helps to identify ways to create awareness of the importance of safety in the workplace and decrease accident frequency and severity.
  • Supports any facility management initiative as directed by the Senior Manager Human Resources
  • Ensures office support services are being delivered to a high standard


  • Leads the completion and monitoring of all onboarding paperwork and personnel records, e.g. ensuring associate files contain required employment paperwork, proper performance management and compensation documentation and are properly maintained and secured for the required length of time
  • Ensures compliance with procedure for accessing, reviewing and auditing personnel files in compliance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Ensures full compliance with regards to immigration and local labor laws in Germany
  • Lead the compliance of all HR policies generated and actioned through the HR Services team
  • Assists the Senior Manager Human Resources in supporting the monthly payroll
  • Maintain associate tracker and training database accurately
  • Assists with issuing GM contracts as directed


  • Participate actively in all Spirit to Serve Activities in the Europe Office Eschborn and support any associate events
  • Support the Senior Manager Human Resources as and when required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet the business need
  • Complies with Marriott International Regional Office policies and procedures.

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience in human resources, management operations or related professional area OR a 2 year degree from an accredited university in Human Resources, Business Administration or related major plus 2 years experience in the human resources, management operations or related professional area.
  • Good working knowledge of Marriott HR Standards & Systems including PeopleSoft HRMS, myHR, GRS preferred
  • Advanced working knowledge of MS Excel , MS Word, MS PowerPoint and MS Access
  • Good understanding of labour relations, labour laws, governmental regulations and safety standards in Germany
  • Fluent German and English language ability both written and spoken

  • High School certification or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree or similar preferred
