The GSO Reporting Analyst serves as the lead subject matter expert on a GSO Continent team for reporting tools, queries, and ad hoc reporting and analysis.  The GSO Reporting Analyst serves as the primary point of contact between Continent GSO teams and the centralized Reporting and Analytic resources at Marriott headquarters.  This position supports the GSO leadership and broader team by utilizing the reporting provided by headquarters to meet the GSO and stakeholder needs in their region.  This would include adapting standard reports to meet the unique needs of customers, AVP regions, and analyzing data to help the GSO leadership understand trends, issues, and opportunities. This work would also include ensuring all deadlines are met regarding goal setting, account deployment submissions, and any other requests from the GSO leadership or headquarter team. This position works with other Sales Support resources in the Continent to ensure the GSO resources have what they need to successfully address account needs, owner/franchise questions, and support property performance.  This position will be based in the Continent GSO with a dotted line reporting responsibility to the Sr. Director, Global Sales Analysis.
Position will be located in Tokyo, Japan.
Education and Experience
  • 5 years’ experience in sales, sales analysis, marketing analysis, revenue management, financial analysis or a related discipline.
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration or quantitative discipline.

Technical Expertise

  • Substantial analytical experience and knowledge of quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects
  • Strong data analysis skills, including querying and manipulation of large quantities of data using applications such as Access, Tableau, and Excel (pivot tables, modeling, etc.)
  • Ability to articulate clearly and present complex issues to associates at all organizational levels including senior level executives within the Continent.
  • Ability to create high level presentations for the continent and present complex data in a clear, concise, and strategic manner..
  • Excellent PC skills including proficiency using spreadsheets and database applications.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills preferred.
  • Expertise with Microsoft Office for data analysis, memos, documents, and presentations.
  • Experience with reporting software (e.g., Tableau, Excel, etc.)
  • SQL programming experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Marriott systems (MRDW, SFA, NGS, PMS, MARSHA, OY) preferred.
  • Attention to detail when building and validating spreadsheets, models and presentations
  • Customer-service orientation including evaluation/validation of requests and prompt follow-up
  • Ability to work as both team member and team leader as part of an effective team approach to achieve results

Providing support for monitoring sales performance, interpreting reports, and working with central centers of expertise to ensure reporting and analysis meets the needs of Global Sales teams.                      
  • Autonomously leverages sales reports, data analysis and presentations to meet the needs of the sales team.
  • Develops understanding of the needs of sales managers and leadership team to develop standard and ad hoc analysis and executive summaries.
  • Serves as the Subject matter expert for sales support team members on the content and parameters of GSO Sales Reports.
  • Strategically analyze organization’s industry and competitive position to identify key trends, opportunities, and/or focus areas given Continent-driving business dynamics.
  • Prepare and present analysis to sales team and leaders in the GSO to influence sales efforts.
  • Partner with central data management and reporting teams to enhance sales reporting templates and processes.
  • Identify ways to streamline both in-continent and centralized reporting processes to enable more efficient reporting capabilities
  • Audit account production reports to support annual performance/bonus process.
  • Respond to requests from stakeholders for data and analysis.
  • Manage special projects as assigned, including ad hoc requests for information and analysis related to Sales & Marketing initiatives.

  • Analyze relevant internal and external data (e.g. account production, competitor information, industry trends) to formulate recommendations and influence business decisions regarding operating budgets and revenue/room night targets.

  • Use standard applications such as Microsoft Office and Marriott systems (e.g. SFAWeb|CI/TY, and MRDW) for data analysis, presentations, documents and memos.
