JOB SUMMARY
 
The Vice President, BMSC Consulting Services, Asia Pacific is a key member of the BMSC Continent Planning & Services organization that provides consulting, advisory and operational support to the Chief Sales & Marketing Officers (CSMO) and the leadership team. The primary responsibilities of this role are to 1) ensure Continent BMSC team enables, activates and executes the CSMO vision and priorities 2) develops and maintains a high performing + collaborative team culture with high associate engagement and 3) leadership of key processes + tools + resources that support the Continent BMSC functions (training, incentives, communication platforms, MBOs). BMSC Planning & Services team supports and operates across the full lifecycle of projects, from assessment of early “white space” opportunities to the development of complex programs.  This leader thinks creatively and practically to develop strategic plans and to oversee efforts designed to facilitate support and execution of BMSC initiatives globally.  This position will directly lead the team responsible for engaging stakeholders to develop and execute the Continent’s strategic initiatives that will enable successful delivery against the strategic priorities of Marriott International. 
 
Specifically, this role will lead a portfolio of services, including:
  • Consulting & Field Support, i.e. Shared Services efforts, Performance management platforms
  • Integration, Innovation & Growth strategy, i.e. “Big Rocks”, Alibaba Joint Venture, Loyalty Partnership Strategy etc.
  • Continent & Marketing Planning Efforts, i.e. VPT Planning, Continent LRP meetings
  • Communications + Change Management, i.e. manage and support internal communications, town halls, off sites, etc.
  • Training Design & Delivery, i.e. managing and localizing of Training Content and Delivery
 
The position will be responsible for managing a team of approx. 15 plus FTEs, with direct reports across all the above areas. In addition to managing the day to day responsibilities for the Planning & Services capabilities, the position will be responsible for coaching and mentoring new leaders and team members. Given the complexity of diverse geography, multiple languages and the growth, the position will also partner with the CSMO to enable the BMSC Leadership Team by building the right foundational organizational and leadership elements.
 
CANDIDATE PROFILE
 
Education and Experience Required
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
    OR
  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
 
Experience Preferred
  • Prior experience leading the planning and execution of strategic projects and initiatives in one or more BMSC areas (e.g., Brand, Marketing, Sales etc.).
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
 
Managing Projects and Priorities
  • Provides direction and assistance to team regarding consultancy projects for marketing leaders. Determines priorities and identifies timelines and necessary resources to ensure active engagement and on-time completion of all discipline initiatives.
  • Partners with stakeholders and direct reports to establish project governance structure timelines/milestones.
  • Obtains alignment with BMSC leadership and oversees efforts, including developing plans and deliverables, identifying opportunities, securing required funding, responding to resource needs, reporting on the process/progress to senior management, and resolving/raising issues where appropriate.
  • Provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes or programs.
  • Leads assessment work to inform project prioritization and funding to achieve most effective pull-through of marketing initiatives. 
  • Defines specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work for self and direct reports.
  • Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.
  • Guides on-going financial and business analysis support to BMSC leadership to support strategic decision making using the appropriate approaches, systems and resources.
  • Delivers presentations related to the strategic roadmap development and execution to senior management and other key stakeholders (e.g., owners, associates, customers).
  • Actively engages internal partners (e.g. change management and communications, human resources, legal) to prepare content for communication materials as needed for deployment of marketing initiatives. 

 

Managing Responsibilities with Stakeholders

  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across all BMSC disciplines globally with primary accountability to Marketing executives.  Fosters a positive climate to build effective teams that are committed to organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Assists direct reports with building and maintaining stakeholder relationships as business partnerships. 
  • Updates stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, responds to concerns, and solicits feedback.  Engages leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps.
  • Continually reviews stakeholder feedback to identify and communicate current and future consultancy and project management resource needs of internal and external customers.  Partners with BMSC Planning & Services leadership team to address gaps, provide process recommendations, and/or develop broader program solutions.

  • Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as required for the position.
