The Vice President, BMSC Consulting – Global Marketing is a key member of the BMSC Consulting organization, responsible for providing consulting services to key stakeholders in the Global Marketing organization.  This leader works with Global Marketing Officer and senior marketing leaders to define and develop strategies to deepen the consumer engagement across all aspects of marketing mix – including Loyalty, Creative + Content, Buzz Marketing + Partnerships, Consumer PR, Brand Marketing and Social and Digital Marketing as well as emerging areas of Global Marketing Optimization, in a unified approach with Continent and Brand teams.  The BMSC Consulting team supports and operates across the full lifecycle of projects, from assessment of early “white space” opportunities to the development of complex programs.  This leader thinks creatively and practically to develop strategic plans and to oversee efforts designed to facilitate support and execution of marketing initiatives globally.  This position will directly lead the team responsible for engaging stakeholders to develop and execute the company’s marketing initiatives that will enable successful delivery against the strategic priorities of Marriott International. 
The Vice President, BMSC Consulting- Global Marketing is a senior thought leader that establishes common principles between BMSC and Global Marketing tor execution across the enterprise, including:
  • Lead large scale transformation, playing the primary leadership role in developing and implementing complex programs across multiple stakeholders (e.g. Loyalty Harmonization and its connection across various marketing touchpoints)
  • Provide strategic solutions to high profile initiatives, such as Global Partnerships integration strategy, Media Integration, and Organizational Transformation with senior executives and financial governance.
  • Facilitate strategic planning, including the Global Marketing Initiative planning process, which now includes a comprehensive Global Marketing Strategic Framework and budgeting approach, and setting new processes including Continent pull through
  • Drive enterprise-wide strategies across Marketing (e.g., connecting the Loyalty Mindset in the Continents as well as related metrics for broader areas of marketing)
  • Establish processes to connect Global Marketing and BMSC through regular guidance on MBOs and BMSC commercial initiatives requiring marketing support.
  • Drive BMSC enterprise connection to Global Marketing organizational transformation to ensure developing marketing capabilities align with business strategies and broader BMSC capabilities (e.g., customer experience).
Education and Experience Required
  • 4-year degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Hotel and Restaurant Management, or related major
  • 10+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
  • 12+ years of relevant professional experience, demonstrating progressive career growth and a pattern of exceptional performance
Experience Preferred
  • Prior experience leading the planning and execution of strategic projects and initiatives in one or more BMSC areas (e.g., Brand, Marketing).
Managing Projects and Priorities
  • Provides direction and assistance to team regarding consultancy projects for marketing leaders. Determines priorities and identifies timelines and necessary resources to ensure active engagement and on-time completion of all discipline initiatives.
  • Partners with stakeholders and direct reports to establish project governance structure timelines/milestones.
  • Obtains alignment with BMSC leadership and oversees efforts, including developing plans and deliverables, identifying opportunities, securing required funding, responding to resource needs, reporting on the process/progress to senior management, and resolving/raising issues where appropriate.
  • Provides recommendations to improve the effectiveness of processes or programs.
  • Leads assessment work to inform project prioritization and funding to achieve most effective pull-through of marketing initiatives. 
  • Defines specific goals and plans to prioritize, organize, and accomplish work for self and direct reports.
  • Supports achievement of performance goals, budget goals, team goals, etc.
  • Guides on-going financial and business analysis support to BMSC leadership to support strategic decision making using the appropriate approaches, systems and resources.
  • Delivers presentations related to the strategic roadmap development and execution to senior management and other key stakeholders (e.g., owners, associates, customers).
  • Actively engages internal partners (e.g. change management and communications, human resources, legal) to prepare content for communication materials as needed for deployment of marketing initiatives. 
    Managing Responsibilities with Stakeholders
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across all BMSC disciplines globally with primary accountability to Marketing executives.  Fosters a positive climate to build effective teams that are committed to organizational goals and initiatives.
  • Assists direct reports with building and maintaining stakeholder relationships as business partnerships. 
  • Updates stakeholders on key initiative wins and opportunities, responds to concerns, and solicits feedback.  Engages leadership to develop and execute action plans to address gaps.
  • Continually reviews stakeholder feedback to identify and communicate current and future consultancy and project management resource needs of internal and external customers.  Partners with BMSC Planning & Services leadership team to address gaps, provide process recommendations, and/or develop broader program solutions.
    Managing and Conducting Human Resources Activities
  • Continuously improves team and job structures and ensures clear leadership accountabilities are in place.
  • Hires, develops, and retains diverse talent that makes a strong, positive impact on the organization. 
  • Builds teams with the appropriate mix of talent and skills to drive innovation and performance. Identifies talents of direct reports, and assists with their growth and development plans.
  • Facilitates regular, ongoing communication in department (e.g., staff meetings).
  • Sets goals and expectations for direct reports using the performance review process and holds staff accountable for performance goals.
  • Promotes adherence to policies consistently, follows disciplinary procedures and documents items according to Standard and Local Operating Procedures (SOPs and LSOPs) and supports the Peer Review Process.
  • Conducts annual performance appraisal with direct reports according to Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Performs other reasonable duties as required for the position.
