Position: Director, Project Management, Renovations
Reports to: Senior Director, Design Management

The Director, Project Management, Renovations will develop and manage the overall renovation quality assurance and compliance program, and ensure effective internal and external communication and coordination for multiple managed and franchised renovation projects for hotels in Europe.  He/she will serve as Global Design Europe’s main point of contact for above-property operations as well as for the owner/operator and their project team to ensure submittal/completion timeliness, quality control, and design standards compliance. Responsibilities include project communication, scope and budget preparation/review, and tracking overall status of projects.  He/she will work closely with the Global Design interior design team and other internal disciplines to coordinate consultant selection, design review and approval, and ensure on-strategy results.
This position will also advise and assist property teams with coordination and execution of Capex projects, including internal and external communication, scheduling, setting scope and budget, consultant selection, reviews and approvals, and progress reporting/tracking.
The Director, Project Management, Renovations provides overall program and project coordination, maintains effective relationships with all stakeholders and monitors/supports multiple renovation projects of varying scope and complexity.
  • Location:  Marriott Europe office – Eschborn, Germany
  • Language:  High proficiency (speaking, reading and writing) in English is required. Proficiency in other European languages is preferred.
  • Travel:  60% business travel required.EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
  • Program Management
  • Develop and manage the overall renovation quality assurance and compliance program.
  • Represent Marriott, both internally and externally, with senior representatives and all stakeholders.
  • Make presentations to senior management, owner and consultants to inform and gain their approval.
  • Provide leadership, management direction and guidance to relevant internal and external team members to ensure that they have the necessary information to complete their responsibilities.
  • Partner with business unit leaders to market and sell the brand to the owner and consultant team to expand brand strategy recognition and promote the latest brand initiatives for incorporation in projects.
  • Represent the company on renovations as the Global Design Europe main point of contact and for coordination of other disciplines.
  • Manage renovation project communication and act as liaison between Marriott and the owner, consultant team, internal stakeholders and disciplines for design-oriented projects to ensure smooth execution and problem resolution
  • Maintain working knowledge of Marriott brand strategies, design standards and evolving direction.
  • Project Management Guidance
  • Ensure project timeliness, quality control, and standards compliance through effective verbal and written communication, scheduling, scope and budget review, coordination of reviews and approvals, and tracking of overall project execution.
  • Advise property GM and team on selecting, negotiating and contracting with project consultants, directing and supervising the work, and administering their contracts, approving payment requisitions, etc.
  • Obtain internal and external approvals and ensure work is clearly authorized and proper procedures are being followed.
  • Ensure the use of appropriate business processes and monitor compliance.
  • Monitor projects during all phases to maintain quality, budget and schedule objectives.
  • Manage outsource design consultants, their proposals, contracts and invoicing to project objectives

  • Work closely with Operations and Finance to ensure projects are completed within approved budgets
  • Owner Relations
  • Develop and maintain strong, mutually beneficial, business relationships with all owner representatives, their consultant teams, and all internal stakeholders

  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in Project Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related discipline, at a professional firm or hospitality company.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience on relevant hospitality renovation projects.

Education and Professional Certification: 
  • Baccalaureate degree in Project Management, Architecture, Interior Design, Engineering or a related discipline is preferred, or equivalent work experience within the industry
  • Professional license/accreditation preferred
